Question by Phoenix: Does Bellagio use the services of a high risk merchant account provider like online casinos?

Best answer:

Answer by Lola J
Online casinos, unlike Bellagio and Caesar’s Palace, need to acquire casino merchant accounts offshore. Why? Because they will find it difficult to operate and handle all those credit card transactions without the help of a reliable payment gateway. Bellagio employs thousands of workers while an online casino may be manned only by a few staff. As long as it has an efficient high risk credit card processing infrastructure, it can easily match the profit that land based casinos like Bellagio can make. Not including the profit on hotel and attractions, of course. – This excerpted from an article I read: “Online Casino Merchant Accounts for Legit Poker Rooms”

Wireless terminals are more expensive than manual imprinters but are greatly useful to high risk merchants. They are efficient credit card terminals that let you know immediately whether a transaction is authorized or not. Manual imprinters are rather cheaper but work best with bulk orders.

Hi sean!

A high volume merchant account is an account that allows you to have unlimited volume processing in a month. This applies to volume transactions not lower than $ 10,000. It is considered high risk mainly because of the fast and above than normal amounts coming in. Money-laundering issues come in. But, always, give the benefit of the doubt.

Question by Drew H: Do i need to apply for a high risk merchant account offshore when selling my online games (consoles, titles)?

Best answer:

Answer by Phoenix
You don’t need to if you don’t intend to increase the monthly volume of your sales. Many gaming vendors feel the need to apply for a high risk merchant account because they transact high volume sales as their businesses grow. Also, due to the nature of the business, they find it difficult to get accepted in the local banks’ merchant services. If you find that an offshore provider works to your advantage then you should apply for one.
